Happy 5 Months Lucy!

Dear Lucy,

IMG_7440

Five months! Wow, how can we already be a month short of your half year birthday?! We are just rockin’ and rollin’ through this first year way too fast. I am pretty sure at least once a day I say to someone “how did she get so big?” because you have changed SO much in such a short amount of time.

IMG_7312

Lucy you really are a happy and smiley baby, don’t get me wrong you have your drama queen moments but most of the time you are just loving life. You love attention (and the lack of is what leads to most of your meltdowns), you love to be talked to and sung to (“Lucy in the sky with diamonds” is your personal favorite)! You are very vocal and love to talk back and have a little conversation, you really enjoy talking to the cats too!  You learned to blow raspberries this month and this it is so funny.

IMG_7334IMG_7230

You love to play in your exersaucer, you play with all the toys on it (spinning the wheels, biting the puppets and pressing the animals to make sounds).

IMG_7087IMG_0788

You also LOVE Sophie, that has probably been your favorite toy this month because you just chomp and chomp on it all day long! You also love the Baby Einstein ball, your soft blocks, purse and ring rattle, and caterpillar mirror.

IMG_1086IMG_1067

You like to be on the floor playing on your belly and trying to crawl. You can push up with straight arms and lift your whole upper body off the ground and you can get on your knees but have not been able to put the two together yet. You can move in circles on your belly to get to something you want or to turn to see who is behind you. You can sit by yourself for a few seconds but get to distracted by toys and reach for something and then topple over.

IMG_1054IMG_0747

You love to feel the different textures of things: jeans, shirts, faces, couch, rug, etc., you are constantly running your hands over different textures.

IMG_7354

Still not a huge fan of sleep or should I say you are a huge fan of partying at night time! Half way through your fourth month Mama reached her breaking point and not only brought you back into our room to sleep but into our bed… desperate times … and kiddo you slept like a rock! So now you are an official resident of our bed but at least we are all functioning at a normal level so that is that. You typically take a nap from 9-10 and then 12 – 2 or 3 depending on the day.

IMG_1058IMG_1021

You still have quite the appetite on you and eat around 30 oz a day. You tried sweet potatoes (eelhhhh didn’t really care for them) and apples (loved them) this month. You are not eating baby food on a regular basis, just here and there. You are satisfied with your bottles so I am in no big hurry to have you on a strict solid food eating schedule.

IMG_0878

This month you had your first cold when you were diagnosed with bronchiolitis on January 31st. You had to have a breathing treatment at home every four ours (during waking hours) for a week. You ended up loving the nebulizer machine which made it a lot easier; every time I gave you a treatment Liam would stand in the door way and say “DeeDee sick, she sick”. You were still such a happy baby the entire time you were sick.

IMG_0787

Speaking of Liam you are his biggest fan, you are just nuts about him and he has finally started noticing you and wanting to play with you. He loves to show you things and tell you what they are and he even let you drive his McQueen car! He loves to cheer you on and yells “Goooo DeeDee Goooo DeeDee” when you try to crawl.

IMG_7106IMG_7298

You are wearing 3-6 and 6 month clothes, a size 2 diaper during the day and 3 at night, you weigh 15.8 pounds. Before you were born I got you’re the cutest winter hat at baby gap (full price which is something I do no do often!). After you were born it was HUGE on you and I thought that you would never get to wear it because it would finally fit come summer time. A few weeks ago my go to hat got a little small so I thought I’d try the gap hat on you and guess what it was WAY to small, like doesn’t even come close to fitting small….sigh…. I can’t believe how much you have grown! To think when you came home you fit perfectly into premie clothes for the first two weeks of your life and now you are our little chunka munka baby.

look at how you’ve grown….

Packin’ heat….

Well I checked off another thing on my 30 by 30 list! Today Alex, Jer and I went to shoot some guns! Jer is Alex’s best friend, since forever, he is kind of like my unofficial brother-in-law, he has the orange hat on in the picture below and he may be the reason I get a third of my 30 by 30 list completed. IMG_1143

All morning Alex was asking me if I was nervous and I could honestly say no I wasn’t, at all, but I have no idea why. We all ended up having a great time! I definitely want to do it again (but it has got to be warmer next time, I was freezing!).  Alex was so excited to shoot this gun because it is like the ones he uses is his xbox games.

 IMG_1145IMG_1146

Alright, here is me being (and looking) totally ridiculous, I was kind of giddy, don’t laugh at me (but gladly laugh with me)! I love how I look at them for reassurance after every shot…

The AR 15, I was a little intimidated by this one because of the “kick back”  it had on both Jer and Alex, and you know they are just a bit bigger then me. The target we were shooting at is far away in the picture, Jer is talking behind me looking through binoculars.

When it rains … it pours …

…and I feel like it has been pouring since just before the new year, one thing after another, let’s pray that the tides change, soon please.

So my birthday was on Wednesday, I turned 27 and had a fantastic day. Alex took off and I was able to not have 100% responsibility for two little ones all day. We got up went to get muffins and donuts for breakfast, shower!, meet my Mom for coffee, shop, then go out to dinner with the hubs! Talk about a great day!! After we got home from dinner Liam had a piece of cake, hence the chocolate covered face in the pictures below.

IMG_7281IMG_7284IMG_7288

Oh melt my heart, I just love when they play together… Liam was showing Lucy the Fish School game he is currently hooked on.

IMG_7289IMG_7293IMG_7298

Lucy just wants to crawl, she can get her chest off the ground and get on her knees but just hasn’t put them both together yet. When she gets really excited/frustrated that she can’t move she just frantically tries to “swim” on the ground by pumping her arms and legs back and forth very fast, it is a pretty funny sight to see.

IMG_7301IMG_1103[1]

and then this happened….hahaha

IMG_1075[1]

I just can’t get enough baby legs in skinny jeans with shoe socks….oh the sweetness.

IMG_1087[1]

Clearly my mustache obsessed two year old also think aliens are going to brainwash us because we all had to wear these last night.

IMG_1090[1]IMG_1095[1]

When we welcomed 2012 I didn’t make any “new years resolutions” per say but I did create a list of goals I wanted to complete by the end of the year. I decided, as the list grew, to take some inspiration from Emily and make a 30 by 30 list, thirty things I want to do before I turn 30. Some are big, some small, but all important to me. I just completed my first thing (switched to all glass tupperware) and on Sunday I will do my second (shoot a gun!). I will have to post my full list soon!

I take a lot of pictures….

yes, I do,I take A LOT of pictures….I realized this yesterday (no a long time ago actually) when I ran out of room on my iphone and Alex transferred over 4,000 pictures since October, from my phone alone, onto our server … and when I sit and look at the blinking courser but really have nothing much to write about except “hey here is a photo dump of my cute kiddos…”

I have struggled with writing issues for a long time on this blog and I have written about it a few times before. It is something that only comes up once in a while but when it does it halts me in my writers tracks. I’ve always wrote when I needed to “talk something out” or as a way to release a lot of the things in life that I tend to internalize (which is a lot) and now is one of those times but this blog has turned into my family  blog and far away from my blog. Maybe I need to go back to the good old days of a paper and pen diary …. except now a day I suppose there is an app for that.

So without further ado here is a cute photo dump of my kids….

IMG_7230IMG_7234

Things this pictures makes me think 1. this pose cracks me up 2. I will hold him down tomorrow in all of his screaming glory to cut that boys hair, oy! Any tips on cutting a toddlers hair?? I mean I’ve done favorite movie, candy cane, cookies … you name it and he wants nothing to do with it, at all!

IMG_7243

Liam is obsessed with mustaches right now. Yes, there has been a mustache trend going on for sometime now and to be honest I just do not get it, not one bit but clearly my two year old does. HAHA He came running up to me the other day with this popsicle stick and said “Mama look I gots a mustache”

IMG_1006

I got this app on my phone to add in pbs characters to your pictures aka the easiest way to blow a toddlers mind!

IMG_1009IMG_1012

My Mom got me red skinny jeans for my birthday (it’s tomorrow)….and I love them!!

IMG_1019

I made these as my birthday cupcakes over the weekend and took them over to Alex’s parents house on Sunday, I call them chocolate covered strawberries and cream and they were delish!

IMG_1026

Solved Lucy’s sleeping problems …. eeerrr more like created bigger ones but hey I do not make good decisions at 3am. After almost three weeks on no more then 3.5-4 hours of sleep per night total I got desperate and brought her into bed with us one night and the kid slept like a rock from 10-7….sigh…so now she has taken up residence in our bed until further notice.

My Valentine’s

We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day today (and prep day yesterday)!

Yesterday

Lucy is finally big enough that I feel comfortable using cloth diapers on her so we switched over early last week; isn’t that fluffy baby butt just the cutest thing?!

IMG_0839

Blowing raspberries before bedtime, clearly mocking me that she was going to actually sleep! IMG_0847

Liam coloring, he loves to color!

IMG_0944

I held Lucy for her nap yesterday, which I don’t ever do but she just looks so sweet on content. When she woke up Curious George was on and she just loved watching it, she isn’t a big fan of anything Liam normally watches so this was a new finding.

IMG_0945IMG_0947

Liam and I getting ready to bake cookies. Whenever I tell him to smile for a picture with me he makes this face…..oy

IMG_0954

Baking cookies for all of our Valentine’s!!

IMG_7161

IMG_7168

He was covered is just a little bit of flour…just a bit…

IMG_7170

Our cookies, yummmm!

IMG_0956

I put together bags for Liam and Lucy with some little things. Liam got some new matchbox cars, a pack of dinosaurs, some peanut butter chocolate candy, M&M’s (of course), a new book, and a foam sword. Lucy got some new footie jammies and a diamond ring rattle.

IMG_0955

Valentine’s Day morning! Cars!! and a motorcycle and airplane, (“cyc” and “airpain”)!!

IMG_7175

I told Liam all I wanted for Valentines Day was a picture of him with his sister, he was to into his new book at this point to care.

IMG_7181

My sweet Valentines. I purchased this shirt for Lucy back in June for $1 at Babies R Us, can’t believe the day was here for her to wear it! Time is flying!!

 IMG_7190IMG_7192

Lucy with her new rattle and Liam with his dinosaurs.

IMG_0957IMG_0958

After breakfast (funfetti pancakes) we headed over to my parents house for the day. Liam got a soccer ball (“sock ball”) and Lucy got (her favorite thing ever) a can of formula! Liam is on a kick (haha no pun intended) with soccer and he is so good! I have a few videos that I need to post of him kicking the ball.

IMG_0959

Mama and her Valentines!

IMG_0960IMG_0977

…ok this picture just cracks me up … four months old and already making the “duck face” haha we are in for it!

IMG_0976

When Alex got home we all played and played before bed time.
